Sheila Nevius – Saxophone

Sheila Nevius

Sheila Nevius is an active freelance musician and private music teacher in the Baltimore, D.C., and Virginia area. She regularly performs as a saxophonist with the Maryland Winds, the Virginia Grand Military Band and with the Cornerstone Saxophone Quartet. She is also an accomplished woodwind doubler and over the years has performed in many big bands and musicals. She also performs on flute, clarinet, and saxophone in many area churches.

Previously, Sheila served 21 years as an Army musician and retired in 2012. She served 13 years with The United States Army Field Band, 8 years with the 257th Army Band from Washington, D.C. In both bands Sheila was a featured soloist, saxophone section leader, clinician, and recitalist.

Prior to the military, she earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Music in saxophone performance from the University of Illinois.

Sheila is passionate about music in all respects and loves sharing the gift of music wherever possible.
